The origins of Bar Room Blues were at an open mic night in Mundesley. Chris Myatt-Jones took to the stage and announced, "I'm a blues man really, but here's some other songs"! As soon as he was off stage Greg Chapman approached Chris and said "How about forming a duo and playing Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry material"?
It didn't quite turn out that way. For a while the pair were joined by bassist Gerry Morris but these days Steve Smith is our bass player.
Our repertoire still includes numbers that will be remembered by fans of the British blues boom of the 1960s, which will please those who remember when the Rolling Stones were just an R&B covers band. However, these days you're just as likely to find the band break into classics like "(Won't You Come Home) Bill Bailey", Lonnie Donegan's "Putting On The Style" or something made popular by Buddy Holly, Otis Redding, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, the Spencer Davis Group, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley or Adele
